Babylon: More than 3,000 male and female students participate in International Holy Quran Day Activities
The Academic Education Center of the Holy Quran Department at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) held its second annual International Quranic Forum on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Babylon Governorate. The event was organized in cooperation with Imam Al-Kadhim College (peace be upon him) – Babylon branches, and the Zainabiya Abaya Project, coinciding with the anniversary of the Prophet’s Mab’ath and International Holy Quran Day.
The head of the Academic Education Center, lawyer Ali Talib, told the Quranic Media Center that the forum witnessed a distinguished official and academic presence, alongside representatives of Quranic and governmental institutions. Attendees included the First Deputy Speaker of the new Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi; the Commander of Babylon Operations; the First Deputy Governor of Babylon; representatives of the Holy Shrine’s branches in Babylon; and the presidents and deans of the University of Babylon. He noted that the forum was exceptional in both the large number of participants—exceeding 3,000 male and female students—and the high level of organization.
Talib added that the forum featured moving recitations from the Holy Quran by a number of international reciters, including Saeed Al-Tusi, Maytham Al-Tammar, and Amer Al-Kadhimi, as well as a performance by the Holy Quran Department’s chanting group from the Babylon branch. The forum’s sessions were moderated by Mr. Ahmed Najaf.
During the event, the Dean of Imam Al-Kadhim College, Dr. Abdul Jalil Munshid Khalaf, delivered a welcoming address, followed by a speech from the head of the Holy Quran Department, Sheikh Dr. Khair Al-Din Ali Al-Hadi, who highlighted the significance of the Holy Quran and its vital role in various aspects of individual and societal life.
Talib explained that the forum concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields and the honoring of women wearing the Zainabiya Abaya through certificates of appreciation, in a spiritual atmosphere that reflected the importance of the occasion and the esteemed status of the Holy Quran in promoting religious and cultural values.
