A delegation from Scotland visited the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain on Monday as part of ongoing efforts to enhance cultural and humanitarian exchange. During the visit, the delegation met with Dr. Saad Al-Deen Al-Banna, general supervisor of the orphanage schools at the shrine, and Mr. Haider Al-Mangooshi, director of the International Media Center.

The delegation was headed by Mr. Shabbir Beg, president and founder of a Shia organization based in Glasgow, United Kingdom, which seeks to introduce the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) and highlight human, social, and peace-oriented values.

Mr. Beg stated that the organization has been active for many years in interfaith dialogue and humanitarian work across Scotland, the United Kingdom, and internationally, adopting a progressive approach to representing Shia Muslims. He noted that the organization’s experience and identity have evolved through these initiatives.

He added that the organization’s activities in Scotland focus on providing food to those in need and the homeless, working in the fields of health and social welfare, raising awareness of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), addressing mental health issues, and building strong community partnerships.

Mr. Beg explained that the meeting discussed prospects for joint cooperation and strengthening ties between Glasgow and Karbala, with the aim of spreading the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) and promoting interfaith dialogue in Scotland.

The visit was coordinated by the International Media Center of the Media Department at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain and forms part of its broader program to engage with cultural and social institutions around the world.
