Ministry of Transport reports significant progress on road and rail network project
The Ministry of Transport has announced significant progress in the design of Iraq’s road and rail transport networks, marking an important step toward advancing the country’s integrated transportation infrastructure.
Hussein Ahmed, Media Director at the Ministry of Transport, said the design phase has made substantial progress, with completion of the railway network designs reaching 94 percent and the road network designs reaching 80 percent.
Ahmed noted that coordination with the Turkish side is continuing to accelerate the project’s development. The Ministry is working to finalize the remaining designs and prepare for the transition to the implementation phase.
He added that the project’s routes across the various governorates have been finalized, while issues related to site obstructions have been addressed and earthworks completed.
Ahmed emphasized that the project represents a major step toward strengthening Iraq’s transportation infrastructure and enhancing the country’s position on the international transport map.
