The Egyptian newspaper ‘Alsharq Alaraby’ published an article by the Egyptian writer and journalist Ayman Bahar about the sacrifices of Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) and the ordeals she endured and stood steadfast in front of them.

The writer described the sacrifices of the Lady as great, pointing out that she was the most afflicted woman in history.

Bahar continued, "This great lady was distressed by the departure of her grandfather, the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family), while she was still five years old, and after a short period of time, she was distressed by the departure of her mother, Lady Fatima Al-Zahraa (peace be upon her)."

He added, "When Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) was 35 years old, she witnessed the martyrdom of her father, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and shortly after that, she witnessed the martyrdom of her brother, Imam Hassan (peace be upon him)."

As for the greatest tragedies that she went through, according to the writer, was the martyrdom of her brother, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), in addition to his children and companions, in the Battle of Karbala.

Bahar added, "Not only that, when the painful battle ended, the enemies tied Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) with ropes and took her with the daughters of her brother Hussain (peace be upon him) to Yazid's accursed palace in Damascus."

The writer pointed out that despite these painful scenes and trials, Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) "was very steadfast and strong in faith like mountains, satisfied with God's will and destiny," adding, "Truly, she is the pure Lady Zainab (peace be upon her), who is an immortal symbol of eternity."
