Fadak Date Palm Farm, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, participated in the 2026 World Food Forum and Exhibition, held at the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy.

Engineer Fayez Issa Abu Al-Maali, director of the farm, stated, “Following an invitation from the FAO, Fadak Date Palm Farm participated in the World Food Forum and Exhibition in Rome. This participation reflects ongoing efforts to restore Iraq’s leading position among countries renowned for date palm cultivation and the preservation of rare date varieties.”

Abu Al-Maali added, “One of the main objectives of our participation is to showcase a diverse collection of rare date varieties, with the farm cultivating approximately 100 different types.” He emphasized that participating in international exhibitions provides an important opportunity to highlight the quality of Iraqi dates, raise awareness of the country’s distinctive varieties, and showcase the significant efforts undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to support the national economy, particularly through expanding date palm cultivation and improving the quality of its produce.

He further noted that the farm’s participation had generated highly positive responses from visitors. “Many attendees expressed interest in bringing these products to European markets, indicating that Iraqi dates would be well received and enjoy strong demand across Europe thanks to their exceptional quality and distinctive taste,” he said.
