Al-Sibtayn University enhances students’ skills in assessing language and communication disorders through lecture by Greek expert
The College of Medical Rehabilitation at Al-Sibtayn International University for Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, hosted a specialized scientific lecture titled “Introduction to Aphasia,” delivered by Professor Dr. Ilias Papathanasiou, an international expert from the University of Patras in Greece. The lecture was attended by a group of students and researchers.
According to a statement obtained by the Shrine’s official website, the lecture explored aphasia as an acquired language disorder, outlining the fundamental principles of assessing language and communication skills and examining the clinical symptoms associated with neurological injuries.
The university noted that the lecture highlighted the importance of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in bridging theoretical knowledge and clinical application. This approach helps develop students’ professional competencies and strengthens their ability to assess and manage clinical cases in accordance with established scientific standards.
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing students and researchers to engage directly with the lecturer and exchange scientific insights on recent developments in aphasia and the assessment of language and communication disorders.
The lecture forms part of Al-Sibtayn International University for Medical Sciences’ broader efforts to engage with international academic experts, strengthen ties with global educational institutions, and improve its educational and clinical training environment. These initiatives aim to keep pace with scientific advances in medical specialties and prepare qualified professionals with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver advanced healthcare services.
