Australia: Rare pages of the Holy Quran displayed at Macquarie University
The Australian Macquarie University Arts District has opened a new museum to the public called "Macquarie University History Museum", where for the first time rare pages of the Holy Quran decorated with gold dating back to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries are displayed.
According to the university website, the museum offers a number of collectibles and treasures dating back thousands of years, including many pieces that belong to ancient Egyptian civilizations and history, and in general, the number of treasures displayed inside the museum is about 18,000 pieces from different eras.
Curator and Museum Director Professor Martin Pumas says, "Following the period of the Crusades, new political ideas emerged and people were linked by trade; Arabic literature was influencing the West and Western architecture was slowly being introduced through the East."
For the first time, rare pages of the Holy Quran decorated with gold dating back to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries were publicly displayed to the world.
