The General Company for Airports and Air Navigation has announced the resolution of the restricted airspace issue and the restoration of full sovereignty over Iraqi airspace.

Captain Ihab Saad, Director of the General Company for Airports and Air Navigation, said the development represents a significant step toward strengthening Iraq’s control over its airspace and is expected to deliver positive economic benefits.

According to Saad, the restoration of full airspace sovereignty will enable international airlines to utilize new air routes across Iraq, potentially increasing air traffic and generating additional revenues for the state treasury.

The company said the resolution follows years of sustained efforts and was achieved through an Iraqi-led decision and determination. It described the completion of the restricted airspace file as a major milestone in restoring full control over the country’s airspace.
