Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq announces plans to repatriate citizens stranded abroad
The Embassy of Iraq in Cairo announced on Friday that it is organizing two flights from Egypt to Saudi Arabia to assist Iraqi citizens stranded abroad and facilitate their return to Iraq via land routes.
In a statement received by Karbala Now Agency, the embassy called on Iraqi citizens who are currently stranded due to the prevailing circumstances and the closure of airspace in several countries—and who have previously registered with the consular section of the embassy—to visit the local office of Iraqi Airways on Al-Thawra Street in Cairo.
The embassy said that citizens could visit the office on Friday, March 13, 2026, and Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to confirm reservations for two special flights that will transport them to Saudi Arabia, from where they will be able to enter Iraq through the Arar Border Crossing.
The statement added that the exact flight dates will be announced soon after the completion of the necessary procedures. Citizens are asked to bring a color photocopy of their passport, along with their original previous flight ticket if available.
