Pakistan: Commemoration of the martyrdom of Ali ibn Abi Talib across the country
The martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), was commemorated across Pakistan on the 21st of Ramadan in an atmosphere of sorrow and reverence. Mourning ceremonies and processions were held in many cities and towns, drawing large numbers of mourners. Authorities also implemented heightened security measures, deploying police and law enforcement personnel along procession routes.
In Karachi, the central mourning procession began at Nishtar Park, with a large crowd of participants. The procession followed designated routes before concluding at the Iranian Hussainiya in the Kharadhar area.
Similar mourning ceremonies and processions were held across cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan, where large crowds gathered to commemorate the occasion. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, central processions were held starting from the Imam Bargah Ithna Ashari.
Mourning gatherings were also held in numerous Hussainiyas and mosques across the country, where scholars delivered speeches highlighting the life, virtues, and legacy of Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
In the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan, processions took place in many cities and towns. Participants commemorated the occasion through mourning rituals and the recitation of elegies in remembrance of Imam Ali’s martyrdom.
The regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir also witnessed mourning ceremonies and processions attended by large numbers of believers. Scholars at these gatherings spoke about the life and character of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), emphasizing his role in promoting justice and Islamic values.
