Hospital affiliated with Imam Hussain Holy Shrine serves over 19,000 patients during two-week health initiative
Imam Zain Al-Abideen Hospital (peace be upon him), affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced the results of its free medical campaign, Ataa Al-Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him), which was carried out from the 7th to the 20th of Safar. The initiative delivered extensive healthcare services to Arbaeen pilgrims and local patients, marking a major humanitarian achievement.
Mustafa Al-Mousawi, Media Director of the hospital, stated that the results of the two-week initiative recorded significant figures in terms of the services provided, reflecting the shrine’s deep commitment to caring for pilgrims and the wider community.
The total value of the free medical services amounted to 250 million Iraqi dinars, or approximately 175,000 US dollars, fully covered by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine.
According to Al-Mousawi, the initiative served more than 19,000 pilgrims. Over 20,000 laboratory tests were conducted, along with 3,145 radiological examinations, 60 gastrointestinal endoscopies, and 110 successful childbirths.
He emphasized that these achievements reflect the dedication of the medical, nursing, and technical staff, who worked tirelessly around the clock. Their efforts were supported by advanced medical equipment and technologies, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services free of charge.
Al-Mousawi added that the initiative exemplifies the true essence of Hussaini giving, and remains a lasting symbol of the humanitarian care provided by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
Ataa Al-Imam Al-Hassan—meaning “The Giving of Imam Hassan” (peace be upon him)—embodies the shrine’s mission of combining modern medicine with the spirit of service rooted in the values of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), offering a model of compassionate healthcare for pilgrims and the community alike.
