In his Eid prayer sermon in Karbala, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Safi emphasized the importance of following Imam Ali's advice to his son, Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon them), to address social issues that divide society. He highlighted that estrangement, or severing ties, is one of the most dangerous social issues tearing communities apart.

Sheikh Al-Safi quoted Imam Ali’s guidance: *"When your brother distances himself, approach him with kindness; when he rejects you, be gentle; and when he wrongs you, forgive him."* He explained that Islam forbids estrangement, warning that when a Muslim cuts ties with another for three days, it severs their spiritual bond, as emphasized in the Quran.

Islamic teachings stress the importance of guardianship among believers, grounded in love, support, and mutual respect. Sheikh Al-Safi called on Muslims to repair strained relationships, responding to rejection with kindness and maintaining family ties as prescribed in Imam Ali's advice.

He urged that these issues could be resolved by approaching others with warmth and sincerity, turning enmity into friendship. He cited the Quranic verse: “Repel evil with that which is better, and lo, he between whom and you there was enmity will become as though he was a devoted friend.”

Sheikh Al-Safi concluded by reminding the faithful to embody the divine laws of kindness and compassion, especially when faced with harshness or wrongdoing, following Imam Ali's guidance to approach others with gentleness and forgiveness.
