Times Higher Education launches dedicated ‘Study in Iraq’ page
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that the Study in Iraq program continues to grow in recognition, with Times Higher Education World University Rankings launching a dedicated page to promote the initiative and attract international students to Iraqi universities.
Ministry spokesperson Haider Al-Aboudi described Study in Iraq as “one of the most important educational initiatives in the region,” noting its expanding presence in the academic field and increasing popularity among students from abroad.
Currently, students from 47 nationalities are enrolled in Iraqi universities, reflecting growing global confidence in the country's higher education system. The program’s third edition aims to attract 16,574 international students through various funding options, including full and partial scholarships and a special admissions channel.
Al-Aboudi noted that the University of Baghdad leads in international admissions, followed by the universities of Basra, Mosul, Al-Mustansiriya, and Anbar. He also highlighted that Iraq’s recent international accreditation has strengthened its global academic standing.
He added that universities in the Kurdistan Region have applied to join the initiative, which will enhance its diversity and reach.
The launch of a dedicated Study in Iraq page by Times Higher Education marks a key step in positioning Iraq as a regional center for higher education.
