Karbala Center attends Trump’s Inauguration Ceremony
For the first time in U.S. history, the presidential inauguration ceremony will includes prayers and speeches by religious leaders of different faiths, including an imam, a priest, and a rabbi. Among those invited to deliver remarks is Hisham Al-Husseini, director of the Karbala Center for Islamic Education in Dearborn, Michigan.
Al-Husseini, a prominent leader within the Iraqi-American and Muslim-American communities, was chosen by President Donald Trump to speak during the ceremony. His selection was met with mixed reactions, given his outspoken views on various political issues, particularly his criticism of Saudi policies and his anti-Zionist stance. Critics have labeled some of his past statements as extremist, sparking controversy in the political and media world.
Despite the criticisms, Al-Husseini has long advocated for dialogue, peace, and interfaith coexistence. He has emphasized the importance of fostering mutual understanding between different cultures and religions.
