With 250 students participating, Imam Hussain Holy Shrine launches Quran memorization competition in Lebanon
The International Quranic Preaching Center at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through its branch in Lebanon, has launched a Quran memorization competition involving 250 male and female students from various age groups and regions across the country.
Ali Abu Al-Hassan, head of the center’s Lebanon branch, told the Holy Shrine’s official website that the competition attracted considerable interest, with participants coming from numerous Lebanese cities and regions, including Beirut, Nabatieh, Tyre, the Bekaa Valley, Baalbek, and Hermel.
He explained that the competition accommodates different age groups and provides participants with an opportunity to review and strengthen their memorization of the Holy Quran. The competition includes categories requiring participants to memorize between three and five parts of the Holy Quran.
Abu Al-Hassan added that organizing the competition across such a broad geographical area forms part of the ongoing Quranic programs and activities sponsored by the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and implemented by the center’s branch throughout Lebanon. These initiatives aim to encourage children and young people to pursue Quran memorization and learning while fostering a spirit of faith-based competition.
The competition reflects the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s broader efforts to promote Quranic culture, support religious and cultural activities beyond Iraq, and strengthen its engagement with diverse segments of Lebanese society.
