Imam Zain Al-Abideen Surgical Hospital, part of the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, announced that it successfully conducted more than 440 open-heart surgeries for children in 2024.

Hospital director Dr. Abdul Rahman Ismail said, "These operations were carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, establishing Imam Zain Al-Abideen Hospital as one of the leading cardiac surgery centers for both children and adults in the country."

He added, "The hospital boasts significant capabilities and a highly skilled medical team. We recently received a request from a Tajik citizen seeking treatment for his son with congenital heart defects. Additionally, we provide care to children from all over Iraq."

Dr. Ismail also noted that the hospital hosts medical teams from various countries, including India, Russia, and Georgia. After the holy month of Ramadan, Austrian and Italian teams will join to perform heart surgeries at the hospital.

These accomplishments are part of the ongoing efforts by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain to improve health and medical services in Iraq, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to offering top-tier care for both children and adults.
