The Consul General of the Republic of Turkey, accompanied by his delegation, visited the Karbala Agriculture Directorate, where they were joined by the head of the Local Union of Agricultural Associations in Karbala to explore opportunities for agricultural cooperation. The discussions focused on improving irrigation methods, expanding trade exchange, and fostering collaboration in the agricultural sector.

Jawad Al-Ghariti, head of the Local Union, highlighted that the meeting explored the potential for cooperation between Turkish and Iraqi businessmen to advance the agricultural sector in Karbala. He emphasized the importance of adopting modern irrigation techniques, utilizing advanced agricultural equipment, and boosting trade in agricultural supplies, alongside fostering the exchange of knowledge between the two nations.

Al-Ghariti also noted that the talks addressed the joint water policy between Iraq and Turkey, stressing the need for Turkey to release adequate water supplies to Iraq, as the current levels are insufficient to meet the country's actual needs.

He further pointed out the significant challenges facing the Tigris and Euphrates rivers due to rising temperatures, increased evaporation, and reduced water inflows. He called for urgent measures to support Iraq in overcoming these issues and ensuring its fair share of water.
