Karbala prepares for the largest peaceful gathering in the world
The province of Karbala has taken preliminary measures for the upcoming Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and predicted that 25 million people from around the world will arrive in the holy city.
Karbala Governor Nusayyef Jassim Al-Khattabi said in a statement, “This week, several meetings were held with various service departments to evaluate their performance on the Day of Ashura, and to present their plans for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussain on the 20th of Safar.”
Al-Khattabi added that the local government took the initial measures to facilitate the entry of pilgrims to Karbala, including the preparation of five parking lots and paving several roads to facilitate to flow of traffic and the movement of mourning processions. Additionally, the province is working with the Holy Shrines to supply large amounts of potable water to the millions of pilgrims.
Al-Khattabi predicts the arrival of 25 million pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq to participate in the largest peaceful gathering in the world – The Arbaeen.
