Al-Abayechi stresses the need to preserve Hussaini rituals from distortion and deviation
In his address at the Arbaeen Pilgrimage Conference, the Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Hajj Hassan Rashid Al-Abayechi, emphasized the importance of safeguarding Hussaini rituals from distortion and deviation, and upholding the values and principles for which Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) sacrificed.
He stated, “The veneration of Hussaini rituals is an act of faith, loyalty, and spiritual devotion. These rituals serve as a source of piety and are among the most vital pillars in strengthening Islamic belief.”
Al-Abayechi urged adherence to the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority, calling on Hussaini processions, organizations, eulogists, and poets to avoid personal interpretations and unverified practices. He stressed the importance of preserving the sanctity of these rituals by carefully selecting poetry and recitations that reflect the historical reality of the tragedy of Karbala, free from exaggeration or the use of inappropriate melodies that could invite skepticism or misrepresentation.
For his part, the Head of the Hussaini Rituals and Processions Department at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, Engineer Rasool Fidala, told Karbala Now Agency, “The conference was attended by representatives of Hussaini bodies and processions from across Iraq. It addressed key organizational and logistical matters aimed at ensuring the comfort and safety of pilgrims during the blessed Arbaeen pilgrimage.”
