Egypt launches first National Online Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition
Egypt’s Ministry of Endowments has announced the launch of the country’s first national online Quran memorization and recitation competition.
According to a report by Al-Mobtada, the competition is organized by the ministry’s General Department of Quranic Affairs and is part of a broader initiative to promote Quranic education and engagement through digital platforms.
Participation is limited to individuals who regularly attend Egypt-based online Quran learning sessions. Candidates must also pass preliminary assessments in memorization and recitation to be eligible.
The stated goals of the competition include encouraging youth and adolescents to engage with the Quran, creating a safe and supportive online educational environment, and identifying standout individuals in Quran memorization and recitation.
At the end of the competition, participants who perform well will receive officially recognized Quranic certificates in memorization and recitation, along with cash prizes.
The ministry reported that a total of 96 remote Quran memorization sessions have been conducted so far, with 1,776 individuals participating—figures it says reflect significant interest in the initiative.
