Australian health authorities confirmed a new type of coronavirus, "LB.1," amid global warnings of quick spread compared to other types.

The SBS News channel shared the Ministry of Health statement, "Cases of infection with LB.1 have been confirmed in the country, while health experts warned this type could spread faster than the previous ones."

The channel shared the statement of Prof. Adrian Esterman, Head of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Department at the University of South Australia: "Although LB.1 is more contagious than KP.2, it does not appear to outperform KP.3 and its types."

Paul Griffin, Professor of infectious disease and clinical microbiologist at the University of Queensland, said, "The country may appear to be approaching its peak of Coronavirus next winter."
