Dr. Bassem Mohammed Al-Khafaji, a pathologist and faculty member at the University of Michigan, praised Al-Kafeel University’s College of Medicine as one of the best medical institutions he has visited in Iraq. The remark came during a visit aimed at strengthening ties and advancing joint cooperation between the two universities.

Dr. Samer Al-Hakak, Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Kafeel University, stated, “We discussed several key points to activate the memorandum of understanding and translate it into practical joint programs, particularly in medical education, academic collaboration, and research exchange.”

Dr. Al-Khafaji noted that his visit focused on following up and revitalizing the memoranda of understanding signed in previous years between the University of Michigan and Al-Kafeel University. These efforts aim to foster the development of medical education and deepen academic and research collaboration.

He praised Al-Kafeel University’s infrastructure, advanced teaching facilities, and modern technologies, calling it "the most advanced medical university I’ve visited in Iraq." He attributed much of its progress to the strong support of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, which has equipped the institution with state-of-the-art technology, allowing it to outperform many other medical colleges in the country.

Al-Kafeel University has made ongoing efforts to partner with international academic institutions, signing agreements that enhance the educational experience for both students and faculty. These initiatives have helped position the university as a leading academic institution in Iraq and beyond.
