The Karbala Health Department has finalized preparations for a comprehensive health plan to support pilgrims during the Day of Arafa and Eid Al-Adha rituals. The plan ensures the delivery of essential medical services at the holy shrines and across the city during the religious gatherings.

Dr. Majid Al-Mayali, Assistant Director General of the department, stated that the plan was developed under the guidance of Health Minister Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi, and the supervision of Karbala Governor Eng. Nuseyyef Al-Khattabi and Health Director General Dr. Sabah Al-Moussawi. It will be in effect throughout the pilgrimage and Eid holidays.

The plan includes the deployment of 100 ambulances at key locations—holy sites, hospitals, cemeteries, intersections, and public squares—for rapid emergency response. Preventive measures are also being prioritized, with awareness teams distributing health guidelines and monitoring public adherence to safety protocols, especially amid high temperatures and large crowds.

Additionally, 55 health inspection teams will be stationed in markets, malls, and parks to ensure food and beverage safety. Emergency departments in hospitals will operate 24/7, supported by specialists in internal medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology. Operating rooms have been prepared, bed capacity increased, and non-urgent cases reduced to prioritize emergencies.

Laboratories, including the public health lab, will remain open, while health centers across all sectors will operate on scheduled shifts. Dr. Al-Mayali confirmed that ample stocks of medications, oxygen, and blood supplies are in place to support continuous operations in hospitals and health facilities.
