Bluefield Daily Telegraph publishes photograph of the re-enactment of Ashura
As part of its weekly report on the most important and powerful events around the world, the American daily newspaper ‘Bluefield Daily Telegraph’ published a photograph of a re-enactment of the Battle of Karbala marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) in Baghdad.
The newspaper said in the caption, “Shia Muslims re-enact the seventh century battle of Karbala during activities marking the holy day of Ashura, in the Shia neighborhood of Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq, Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Ashura is the annual Shia Muslim commemoration marking the death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala, in present-day Iraq, in the 7th century.”
The newspaper, which is based in the city of Bluefield, West Virginia since 1896, indicated that the photo was taken on Wednesday, July 17, by an Associated Press photographer in Iraq, Hadi Mizban.
