The city of Igdir, Turkey, hosted Ashura mourning ceremonies as part of the third annual forum organized by the Imam Hussain Cultural and Media Center in Istanbul, affiliated with the Media Department of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).

Sayed Sabah Al-Taliqani, Director of the Imam Hussain Center in Istanbul, stated that a series of religious programs were held for followers of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) in several mosques, including a notable gathering in the city of Igdir. He noted that the program was conducted in cooperation with the Ahlulbayt Foundation in Igdir and formed part of the Shrine’s broader outreach efforts.

The evening featured speeches by Sheikh Ali Al-Qarawi, representing the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine, and Sheikh Ali Akbar, both of whom emphasized the spiritual significance of Imam Hussain’s (peace be upon him) stand and its enduring message. The event included a mourning ceremony commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), which was deeply moving and well-received by attendees.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the banner of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him)—a handcrafted piece made by lovers of the Ahlulbayt in Istanbul. In addition, blessed prizes were distributed by the Holy Shrine as part of a religious quiz segment focusing on the lives and virtues of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).

The event served as a meaningful expression of devotion and a reaffirmation of the Shrine’s commitment to fostering religious and cultural ties with Shia communities around the world, particularly during the sacred days of Ashura.
