The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) announced that it is preparing 40 thousand flags of Imam Hussain to be waved during the massive Ashura march slated to be held on this year’s Ashura commemoration in the streets of London.

The Deputy Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine, Dr. Alaa Dhiyaa Al-Din, said, “Under the guidance of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, 40 thousand Husseini flags will be prepared to be raised on Oxford Street in the center of the British capital this year during the Ashura commemoration.”

He indicated that this year there will be a large participation of people from different religious denominations and nationalities.

“Each flag will have the logo of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, the phrase ‘O Hussain’ and the year 680 AD written on it, which is the year of the Imam’s martyrdom,” added Al-Din.

The Holy Shrine has been organizing Ashura marches and events in Britain for 14 years. In the past few years, an exact replica of the holy grille of Imam Hussain was manufactured and it toured several English cities on the sorrowful commemoration of Imam Hussain’s martyrdom.
