The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has begun implementing the emergency plan for the Day of Arafa' and other days of Eid al-Adha.

Bacteriologist Bahaa Al-Waeli, the supervisor of the immediate response teams, said in a statement to Karbala International Agency, "The Health Authority at the Holy Shrine has prepared an integrated plan in case of any health issues or other risks that might happen during these massive gathering crowds, as all equipment and cadres are set."

He added, "We prepared various health services for the pilgrims, like mobile medical clinics and fully equipped emergency centres, in addition to pharmacies, intensive care rooms, laboratories, and isolation units."

He stated that "these efforts are in support of the services provided by the Ministry of Health. The services included examining drinks and foods and spreading health culture through information boards and field awareness."

He concluded, "There are 250 mobile paramedics deployed in the old area of the city as part of the rapid response teams, carrying bags containing life-saving medicines and devices."
