Imam Hussain Academy for the Deaf offers courses in sign language
Imam Hussein Academy for the Deaf of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, held a series of courses to teach sign language.
Academy Director Bassem Al-Atwani said, "The courses follow a scientific curriculum to teach the basics of sign language, starting with the alphabet and ending with sentence formation, with the aim of graduating translators specialized in sign language."
Al-Atwani added, "With the support of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain and the Academy's staff, we are striving to make the deaf an active element in society."
The courses aim to spread the culture of sign language to all components of society, ministries and state institutions.
"The academy's curriculum is an advanced scientific curriculum that keeps pace with international curricula in teaching sign language, and through it we will reach the levels of developed countries in this field," explained Al-Atwani.
