Engineer Razzaq Al-Taie, Head of the Agricultural Commission at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, announced that the Commission has launched a comprehensive expansion plan for its agricultural projects. The plan includes establishing processing plants in collaboration with international companies and introducing new varieties of trees and plants to Karbala Governorate for the first time. He emphasized that the projects are receiving direct support and attention from the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority.

Al-Taie explained that the expansion aims to diversify agricultural production and support the local economy. He noted that the Commission has begun contracting procedures with specialized companies to establish a date-processing plant, alongside plans to develop additional facilities for producing date syrup and vinegar.

He further stated that the plan includes expanding cultivated areas at Fadak Farm and the Green Belt, as well as implementing senior management directives to increase grain production through the installation of new center-pivot irrigation systems. An investment contract is also being finalized to establish protected agriculture facilities using plastic coverings to produce staple crops, including tomatoes, cucumbers, and eggplants.

Al-Taie added that the Commission is also planning to pursue an investment opportunity to expand the cultivation of cut flowers, a field in which the Holy Shrine’s Ornamental Plants and Afforestation Department has established a distinctive presence across Iraq.
