The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine on Wednesday launched the third edition of the “Fatwa of Sufficient Defense” Festival under the slogan: “He Issued the Fatwa... We Responded... We Triumphed.” The three-day event commemorates the historic religious decree and honors the sacrifices made by Iraqis in the fight against terrorism.

Ali Kadhim Sultan, head of the shrine’s Religious Activities and Events Department, said the festival features a range of cultural, artistic, and commemorative programs. These include honoring visually impaired wounded members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), an art exhibition depicting the religious authority’s fatwa and Iraq’s struggle against terrorism, and a poetry evening celebrating stories of sacrifice and victory.

The festival also includes support for the families of victims of the Speicher massacre, with transportation and logistical assistance provided for visits to the site of the tragedy.

Sultan added that the closing ceremony will honor media martyrs who documented the liberation battles and reported on the sacrifices and heroism of Iraqi fighters during the war against terrorism, recognizing their role in preserving and conveying this chapter of Iraq’s history.
