The Strategic Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced significant progress in the construction of the Khatam Al-Anbiya Specialized Cardiac and Vascular Hospital in Karbala Governorate, one of Iraq’s most prominent strategic healthcare projects aimed at enhancing specialized medical services.

Engineer Mohammed Diaa Mohammed, Head of the Strategic Projects Department, stated that the hospital is being built in accordance with the latest international standards and architectural specifications for advanced specialized healthcare facilities. He explained that the design prioritizes the integration of medical departments, efficient workflow, and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

According to Mohammed, the project spans a 16,000-square-meter site and includes a total built-up area of 35,000 square meters. The hospital complex consists of three main buildings, the largest of which is an 11-story medical tower with a capacity of 157 beds.

He noted that the surgical wing will include seven advanced operating theaters, among them a state-of-the-art Hybrid Operating Room equipped with the latest global medical technologies, as well as four specialized cardiac catheterization laboratories.

The project also features a six-story logistics and parking facility designed to improve traffic management and accommodate visitors and medical staff. In addition, a dedicated utilities building will house mechanical and electrical systems, transformers, and backup generators to ensure an uninterrupted power supply around the clock.

Mohammed added that the hospital will be equipped with integrated technical infrastructure, including healthcare-grade HVAC systems, intelligent fire detection and suppression systems, voice paging networks, and modern elevators and escalators. The facility will also be furnished with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, strengthening its capacity to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care and specialized treatment services.

Upon completion, the hospital is expected to represent a major addition to Iraq’s healthcare sector, offering advanced cardiac and vascular services and contributing to the development of specialized medical care in the country.
