Warith International Foundation represents Iraq at the Asian Congress of Nuclear Medicine in India

The Health and Medical Education Authority of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain announced the participation of several physicians from the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Warith International Foundation for Cancer Treatment in the Asian and Oceanian Congress of Nuclear Medicine and Biological Sciences, held in Chennai, India, with the participation of representatives from more than 20 countries worldwide.

In a press statement, the authority said that doctors from the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Warith International Cancer Institute—affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain—took part in this prominent international scientific forum, which is considered one of the leading specialized events in the fields of nuclear medicine and biological sciences across Asia and Oceania.

The statement explained that the institute was represented at the congress by Dr. Farah Mohammed Anwar, a nuclear medicine specialist, and Dr. Ayser Najah Al-Fatlawi, head of the Nuclear Medicine Department. Both participated as members of the congress’s International Faculty and had an active scientific presence, contributing as speakers, moderators, and session chairs, reflecting the advanced scientific standing of the institute’s medical staff.

According to the statement, Dr. Farah Mohammed Anwar delivered a scientific lecture on the development of nuclear medicine in Iraq, highlighting the pioneering role of the Warith Institute in introducing Lutetium-177 therapy for the first time in the country. This advancement has enabled Iraqi cancer patients to receive this specialized treatment locally without the need to travel abroad.

The statement further noted that Dr. Ayser Najah Al-Fatlawi presented a lecture reviewing the global and local development of nuclear medicine, sharing the experience of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Warith Institute and outlining mechanisms for employing modern technologies to serve cancer patients in line with the latest international medical standards.

The authority affirmed that this international participation reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen Iraq’s scientific presence in global forums and facilitate the exchange of medical expertise, contributing to the continued improvement of healthcare services in Iraq.
