Embroidered Quran Showcased at Riyadh International Book Fair 2025
A remarkable embroidered copy of the Quran, crafted by Syrian calligrapher Muhammad Maher Hazari, is on display at the Riyadh International Book Fair 2025 in Saudi Arabia.
According to Ahad, Hazari dedicated twelve years to meticulously embroidering Quranic verses onto fabric—a project that not only exemplifies his artistic devotion but also earned him recognition in the field of Quranic calligraphy.
He began the ambitious work in 1998 and completed it in 2010. The entire Quran was embroidered onto cloth and divided into sections, each measuring 80 by 60 centimeters. The completed work comprises 12 volumes and weighs approximately 200 kilograms.
“I had always dreamed of exhibiting my work in Saudi Arabia,” Hazari said. “This year, that dream came true with the opportunity to participate in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2025.”
Reflecting on his journey in Arabic calligraphy, he explained, “I first copied the Quran by hand to learn the art of calligraphy. Then I began embroidering the verses onto fabric.”
Hazari added that his embroidered Quran has been featured in numerous exhibitions and has consistently received admiration from visitors around the world.
