The Holy Quran House Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has launched the preliminary stage of the fourth edition of the Karbala International Competition, receiving over 100 entries in Quran recitation, memorization, and interpretation from more than 30 Arab and foreign countries.
Wissam Nadhir Al-Dilfi, head of the Quran Media Center, stated that following the call for entries, the head of the Holy Quran House Department, Sheikh Dr. Khairuddin Al-Hadi, held a preparatory meeting with his assistants and key officials from administrative, scientific, and technical departments to review developments and confirm the number of submissions.
During the meeting, three organizing committees were formed and their leaders appointed. The technical committee, responsible for overseeing the recitation category, is headed by Sayyed Muad Al-Yasiri, the department’s technical assistant, with support from reciters at the Quranic Education Center who will review and sort the recitation submissions. The interpretation committee is led by the department’s scientific assistant, Dr. Murtada Jamal Al-Din, and his team. The memorization committee is managed by memorizers Ali Hadi and Engineer Hamza Al-Battat.
Al-Dilfi noted that participants in the memorization and interpretation categories will undergo an initial test via phone interviews using their provided contact information. They will be asked direct questions to assess their eligibility for the next stage of the competition.
It is worth mentioning that the scientific, educational, technical, and service staff of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine are working diligently across their respective areas to finalize preparations, including travel arrangements and reception procedures, for participants arriving from both inside and outside Iraq.
