World Hijab Day to take place on February 1 with #HijabisUnsilenced
The 13th Annual World Hijab Day is just around the corner, set for February 1, with the aim of challenging “bigotry, discrimination, and prejudice against Muslim women,” according to the movement’s organizers.
The National Education Association is encouraging educators and students to show support for Muslim girls and women facing discrimination for wearing the hijab by participating in this significant day.
World Hijab Day organizers envision a world united through its diversity, working to foster a culture of understanding and respect.
The 2025 theme, #HijabisUnsilenced, celebrates the strength and resilience of hijab-wearing women who refuse to be silenced despite prejudice. It promotes the hijab as a symbol of empowerment, identity, and solidarity.
World Hijab Day invites non-Muslims to wear the hijab as an act of cultural appreciation, not appropriation, to foster empathy and support for Muslim women. The event also addresses Islamophobia through educational workshops and social media campaigns.
