Ancient residential units from the Sassanian era have been discovered in Baghdad

The Iraqi General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage announced the discovery of residential units' remains dating back to the Sassanian era in Baghdad.


The authority said, "Remains of residential units and archaeological finds dating back to the Sassanian era were discovered in the Tell al-Debaa area in Baghdad Governorate."


The Director of the Excavation Department, Suhail al-Tamimi, said, "The excavation mission working in Tell al-Debaa in Baghdad Governorate, while continuing their work that began two months ago, discovered remains of residential units and other service units built of mud bricks, in addition to several diverse finds dating back to the end of the Sassanian era and the beginning of early Islam, represented by glass bottles and pottery jars."
