ISIS claims Barbaric attacks in Afghanistan on Shia
Taliban authorities in Afghanistan have confirmed that gunmen killed at least 14 Shias and wounded six others in an overnight attack in a central province.
An affiliate of the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the deadly shooting. Taliban government spokesman Thabihullah Mujahid confirmed the deaths in what he denounced as a “barbaric act” against Afghan civilians in Daikundi province, as he tweeted, "We offer our sincere condolences to the victims, and we are using all our efforts to catch the criminals."
The Islamic State group claimed that soldiers from the Afghan branch of the Khorasan Islamic State, known as IS-K, were behind the attack, as 15 Shia were killed, and six others were wounded."
Earlier this month, ISIS-K also claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in the Afghan capital that resulted in six killed victims.
In May, the group claimed responsibility for an attack by militants in the central province of Bamyan that killed three Spanish tourists and their local interpreter.
In March, ISIS-K claimed responsibility for an attack on a concert hall in Moscow that killed 145 Russians.
