The Iraqi Ministry of Environment revealed actions to combat air pollution in Iraq, focussing especially on Basra, northern Iraq, and the capital Baghdad.

Ameer Ali Al-Hassoun, the man-in-charge of the awareness and media department at the ministry, mentioned that both cities, Baghdad and Basra, have the highest population rates in the country because of the impact of activities related to oil, factories, and cars.

The Ministry proposed enlarging green spaces and establishing green corridors in and around Baghdad and Basra as a means of reducing the negative impacts of pollution on the environment.
