Captain Harith Al-Obeidi, Director of Baghdad International Airport, announced the launch of the first phase of measures aimed at facilitating and streamlining passenger entry into the airport. The initiative, directed by Minister of Transport Wahab Al-Hasani, seeks to reduce waiting times and improve the flow of traffic at the airport’s entry points.

Under the new measures, passengers are permitted to remain inside their vehicles during security checks at the entry gates, eliminating the need to exit their vehicles. In addition, K-9 units are being deployed to support inspections, helping expedite entry procedures and reduce congestion at the gates.

Al-Obeidi noted that the measures constitute the first phase of a broader plan to simplify and improve passenger entry procedures. Their implementation will be subject to field monitoring and evaluation, with the findings informing subsequent phases of procedural streamlining. The overall aim is to further improve the flow of passengers and vehicles while maintaining all required security standards.
