The Imam Hussain Pilgrims' City has announced the deployment of 168 high-resolution surveillance cameras, manufactured to international standards, to enhance security and monitor the movement of pilgrims during the Arbaeen pilgrimage along the Babylon–Karbala route.

Karrar Mohammed Hamza, Head of the Electronic Surveillance Unit, told the International Media Center that the surveillance network has been expanded and upgraded to provide comprehensive coverage across the pilgrims' city.

"We have installed new cameras throughout the streets, sectors, and facilities of Imam Hussain Pilgrims' City," he said. "The system has been strengthened through continuous maintenance and the addition of advanced recording devices that operate with high efficiency around the clock. This year, the total number of surveillance cameras has reached 168."

Hamza explained that the surveillance system is designed to detect security incidents, protect pilgrims and their property, and enable rapid coordination with personnel stationed across the site to respond promptly to any situation.

"The cameras cover the city's entrances and exits, buildings, and public areas," he said. "Our monitoring teams track any emergencies in real time and coordinate directly with the Order Maintenance Division to ensure a swift response. We also maintain close cooperation with the Electronic Surveillance Division at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine."

He added that the surveillance unit operates 24 hours a day with trained and experienced personnel. "There is strong coordination between the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, and all government security agencies to support electronic surveillance efforts and monitor any violations or security incidents throughout the Arbaeen pilgrimage."
