Al-Zahraa University for Women, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, represented Iraq at the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Women, held in Islamabad, Pakistan.

University President Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani attended the conference under an official nomination from the General Secretariat of the Iraqi Council of Ministers through the National Department for Iraqi Women.

Al-Sultani said the conference is one of the Islamic world's leading ministerial forums dedicated to advancing women's empowerment and promoting policies that strengthen women's participation in education, scientific research, the economy, and decision-making.

Held under the theme, "Social, Economic, and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC Member States: Challenges and Future Prospects," the conference brought together ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, and experts from the OIC's 57 member states to review progress on women's advancement and formulate recommendations for the Islamabad Declaration.

During Iraq's participation, Al-Zahraa University presented proposals to expand scientific and social empowerment programs for women, establish an academic network linking Arab and Islamic universities, and launch a visiting professor program to strengthen academic cooperation and exchange expertise among higher education institutions in OIC member states.

The university said its participation reflects the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine's commitment to supporting higher education, empowering Iraqi women through academic development, and strengthening the international presence of Iraqi universities through regional and global partnerships.
