Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority: Imam Hussain Holy Shrine ready to treat children with tumors from Algeria and other countries free of charge
The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, affirmed that the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine is prepared to receive children with tumors from Algeria and other countries, providing comprehensive treatment free of charge in accordance with the Shrine's humanitarian mission.
His remarks came during a meeting in Karbala with an Algerian child and her family after a specialized medical team from the Holy Shrine successfully performed a complex surgery to treat her retinoblastoma (retinal cancer).
Sheikh Al-Karbalaey stated that since the inauguration of the Warith International Oncology Center, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has been offering free treatment to children with cancer up to the age of 15, regardless of the duration or complexity of their treatment. He emphasized that these services are provided without discrimination, reflecting the Shrine's commitment to humanitarian values.
He explained that the Shrine's support extends beyond medical care to include continuous follow-up after treatment, as well as comprehensive assistance for patients' families throughout the treatment process.
Sheikh Al-Karbalaey further confirmed that the Holy Shrine is ready to receive children with tumors from Algeria and other countries, covering all medical expenses and, when necessary, providing assistance with travel and accommodation to ensure patients have access to the care they need.
Recently, a medical team from the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine successfully performed a complex operation on an Algerian child diagnosed with retinoblastoma. The procedure forms part of the Shrine's ongoing initiative to provide advanced medical treatment free of charge to patients from Iraq and abroad.
