Imam Hussain Shrine organizes Muharram mourning gatherings in Istanbul, prepares fourth annual forum in Antakya
The Imam Hussain Center in Istanbul, affiliated with the Media Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, is holding daily Muharram mourning gatherings from the first through the thirteenth of the sacred month in coordination with several religious and community organizations.
Sabah Al-Taliqani, director of the center, said the gatherings feature Husseini orator Sheikh Mazen Al-Tamimi and are being organized in cooperation with the Holy Shrine's Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department, the Ahlulbayt Foundation, and the Ahlulbayt Association, which represents the Turkmen community in Istanbul.
He noted that separate sections have been arranged to accommodate men, women, and children participating in the commemorations.
Al-Taliqani added that preparations are also underway for the fourth annual forum, which will be held this year in the city of Antakya in Hatay Province, southern Turkey. The city was severely affected by the devastating earthquakes that struck the region in 2023.
As a gesture of solidarity with the local community, a delegation from the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine will travel to Antakya to commemorate Ashura, marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain.
