Amid the destruction caused by the Israeli war on Gaza, the Noor Quranic School in Khan Yunis is providing a space for spiritual healing and hope through Quran education and psychological support programs.

Located inside a partially destroyed mosque, the school has become a refuge for hundreds of displaced children and women affected by war, loss and displacement. Students gather daily to memorize the Quran, study religious teachings and find emotional comfort after enduring years of violence, hunger and instability.

Many students say the school has helped them cope with the trauma of losing homes and loved ones. Huda Al-Farra, one of the students, said her family lost their home during the war and was forced to live in tents, but turning to the Quran gave them strength to continue.

Fourteen-year-old Rasha Al-Farra described how the war transformed her life from stability to displacement and deprivation. She said she joined the Quranic school alongside her mother to find peace and remain connected to faith despite the hardships around them.

Rami Al-Shakra, head of the Noor Quranic Memorization and Sciences Center, said the school was established to support the psychological and educational recovery of Palestinians after the war. In addition to Quran memorization, the center provides counseling and emotional support programs supervised by specialists.

The center currently serves around 800 students of different age groups, supported by more than 60 teachers and Quran instructors. According to Al-Shakra, the school aims to rebuild resilience, restore hope and help Gaza’s residents recover spiritually and emotionally from the effects of war.
