Nineveh Governorate has marked the laying of the foundation stone for the Al-Ba'aj District Hospital, a new healthcare facility with a capacity of 100 beds. The ceremony was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs Maher Hammad Johan, alongside senior ministry officials, members of the provincial council, and local security and tribal leaders. The project forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the governorate’s healthcare sector.

Governor Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil stated that the hospital is a key component of the local government’s strategy to improve public services, particularly in remote areas. He noted that the facility will be built according to modern technical standards and equipped with advanced medical technologies and essential furnishings.

Al-Dakhil highlighted that Al-Ba'aj is among the districts farthest from Mosul, making the provision of essential services critical for encouraging the return of displaced residents and promoting long-term stability. He added that local authorities are working in coordination with the federal government to develop infrastructure across multiple sectors, including healthcare, transportation, water, and electricity, while also expanding employment opportunities.

He further emphasized that improved security conditions in Nineveh are helping to accelerate development efforts and attract investment. In this context, he pointed to growing interest from foreign delegations and companies seeking to participate in reconstruction projects.

For his part, Johan praised the local government’s efforts to enhance services and meet citizens’ needs, reaffirming the federal government’s continued support for provinces affected by past conflicts.
