Warith Al-Anbiya University has inaugurated the “Warith Islamic Educational Bank,” an innovative academic initiative that reflects a growing emphasis on practical, hands-on learning. Designed as an advanced training platform for students of Islamic Sciences, the project bridges the gap between theoretical study and labor market demands—marking a first-of-its-kind experience among Iraqi universities.

In a statement to Karbala Now Agency, Dr. Talal Al-Kamali, Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, said the initiative was launched under the patronage of the university’s president and in collaboration with the college’s deanship. He explained that the bank aims to prepare a new generation of Islamic banking professionals equipped with both academic knowledge and practical expertise.

Al-Kamali noted that the project is based on a careful assessment of labor market needs, with the primary goal of translating theoretical concepts into applied skills. The educational bank provides a realistic training environment where students can engage directly in banking operations, helping them develop their professional competencies.

He also emphasized the university’s broader mission to graduate students who combine academic excellence with strong ethical values, highlighting that character-building—grounded in Islamic principles and national identity—is a central component of the educational process.

Dr. Israa Al-Taie, Head of the Department of Islamic Finance and Banking, described the discipline as one of the newest and most distinctive academic fields in Iraq. She explained that the launch of the educational bank enhances students’ employability by equipping them with the skills needed to integrate into Islamic financial institutions and public-sector roles.

Banin Zafir Jassim, a third-year student, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, noting that her cohort is the first to benefit from the facility. She described it as a valuable platform for developing both academic and professional skills, while boosting confidence in future career opportunities.

She added that the project represents a strategic step toward strengthening the practical dimension of higher education and ensuring the graduation of capable professionals ready to contribute to the development of Iraq’s Islamic banking sector.
