This came during the visit of the delegation of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, represented by the International Media Center and the PR, to the headquarters of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development in Baghdad, in the presence of the representative of the World Health Organization in Iraq, to open horizons for cooperation.

"The 2020 major national campaign to combat Covid-19 in Iraq’s Middle Euphrates provinces came as a extension to previous campaigns in the rest of the Iraqi provinces that have achieved distinguished results, and this campaign has a clear and lofty goal, which is to limit the spread of the pandemic and provide health care for the patients,” said the representative of the World Health Organization in Iraq, Dr. Adham Ismail.

He noted, "The virus is still prevalent and dangerous, especially in the coming days, as Iraq is bound to receive millions of pilgrims coming to participate in Arbaeen, but the development of health institutions and their acquisition of experience in facing the pandemic as well as the support provided by the Holy Shrines led to a reduction in deaths due to Covid-19,” calling on pilgrims to follow all the health guidelines issued by WHO and the Religious Authority’s directives, in order to preserve their safety and the safety of their families.

Head of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s delegation, Abdul-Amir Taha, emphasized the willingness of the Holy Shrine to open horizons for cooperation with the World Health Organization and all organizations to serve the Iraqi people in accordance with the directives of the Religious Authority, which is considered the first sponsor to contain crises and solve problems without discrimination among sects.

Taha highlighted the role of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in establishing the al-Shafaa Urgent Care centers in several provinces to treat Covid-19 patients.

"The campaign will be launched from Karbala coinciding with the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, and it was taken from the successful experiences of neighboring countries. Teams of qualified and experienced volunteers with mobile clinics will be deployed at the main roads leading to Karbala, in coordination and cooperation with Imam Hussain Holy Shrine,” said the President of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development, Dr. Ahmed Musharraf al-Hiti.

For his part, the Head of the Coordination Unit at the International Media Center said, "As a result of the discussion sessions held between Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, WHO and the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development, on cooperation in various fields, including the educational campaign on Covid-19 during Arbaeen, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the aforementioned parties to unify efforts to address the pandemic.”
