Al-Fahdawi from Karbala: Palestine is the cause of a nation — abandoning it is like abandoning Hussain

Sheikh Dr. Kamil Al-Fahdawi, a member of the Council of Scholars of Al-Rabat Al-Mohammedi, affirmed during the Al-Aqsa Call Conference — held in Karbala under the theme "From Karbala to Palestine: A Journey of Sacrifice for Freedom, Dignity, and Victory" — that the event was far more than a traditional rhetorical gathering.

“It was a cry of awareness,” he said, “echoing from the depths of history into the heart of our present reality, emerging from Karbala, the city of revolution and martyrdom.”

Al-Fahdawi emphasized that the diverse scholarly and intellectual participation in the conference renewed the collective pledge to the values of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), reaffirming that the Battle of Karbala lives on in the conscience of the Ummah. He noted that Karbala continues to inspire every struggle between truth and falsehood, between subjugation and liberation.

Turning to the situation in Gaza, Al-Fahdawi described it as a living extension of Karbala.

“Gaza today reenacts the scenes of Karbala. Its children are martyrs, its women are Zainabs, and its youth are Hussainis, standing firm despite their wounds. Just as Hussain once declared, ‘Humiliation is far from us,’ Gaza now declares, ‘We will not kneel.’”

He stressed that the Palestinian cause is not merely a political dispute between two parties, but rather a fundamental struggle between a project of liberation and one of domination and arrogance.

Al-Fahdawi, representing the Council of Scholars of Al-Rabat Al-Mohammedi, further stated, “Our participation in this conference arises from a deep legal and moral understanding of the nature of the battle. Palestine is not the cause of one people, but the cause of an entire nation. Whoever abandons it is like those who abandoned Hussain, and whoever supports it walks in his footsteps.”

He added, “To stand with Gaza today is to stand with truth against injustice, and with humanity against brutality.”

Sheikh Al-Fahdawi concluded by saying, “The Al-Aqsa Call Conference has bridged the past with the present, affirming that Karbala is not just a memory we commemorate, but a path we are called to walk. Palestine is not merely a land — it is an ongoing test of dignity and pride. From Karbala, blood began to write the lessons of honor, and in Gaza, that blood continues to water the tree of freedom.”
