A Pakistani media delegation recently visited the International Media Center in Karbala, as part of ongoing cooperation between Pakistan’s Al-Kawthar University and the Center. The delegation included Syed Sabugh, Head of Media at the Khatam Al-Anbiya Foundation and Pakistan Television (PTV), and Dr. Muhammad Hussain of the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation.

Mr. Haidar Al-Mangooshi, Head of the International Media Center, stated, “This visit is part of our efforts to build strong relationships with international media organizations and to host influential media figures from around the world, introducing them to the unique spiritual and humanitarian experience of Karbala.”

During the visit, Mr. Sabugh expressed PTV’s interest in producing a documentary focused on Karbala and the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. He emphasized that the film would aim to showcase the spirit of peaceful coexistence observed in Karbala today—especially in the post-ISIS era—as a model to present to Pakistani society.

“Most Pakistanis are familiar with Karbala only through the lens of pilgrimage,” Sabugh noted. “They are largely unaware of the broader context, including Iraq’s social and cultural landscape and the coexistence witnessed in the holy city.”

He also revealed that a second documentary will focus on the Arbaeen pilgrimage, highlighting the journey of pilgrims and the humanitarian initiatives led by the holy shrines, especially the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine.

Sabugh further announced plans for future collaboration with the International Media Center, including hosting Pakistani media graduates in Karbala to conduct academic research and gain hands-on experience in religious and humanitarian media production.
