Mecca: ‘First House’ Exhibition at Grand Mosque showcases history of the Kaaba
The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque in Saudi Arabia has launched the “First House” exhibition for the 2025 Hajj season (1446H), offering pilgrims and visitors a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of the Kaaba—from the time of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to the present day.
According to Saudi media, the exhibition is located in the Third Saudi Expansion of the Grand Mosque and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the Hajj season.
Featuring immersive displays and interactive technology, the exhibition traces the evolution of the Kaaba through various historical periods. Key themes include its original construction, architectural transformations, tools used in its upkeep, stages in the creation of the Kiswa (the cloth covering), and other significant features.
Visitors can engage with motion graphics, visual presentations, historical artifacts, and digital touchscreens that offer in-depth insights into the Kaaba’s legacy and spiritual significance.
